2004 – defended the DSc (= Doctor of biological sciences) thesis “The
Cretaceous flora of Siberia”.
Main fields of interest: taxonomy of fossil plants, paleophytogeography, paleoclimatology, Cretaceous and Palaeogene floras of Arctic and North-Eastern Asia.
Current research:
- Evolution of angiosperms in the Cretaceous floras of Siberia.
- Late Cretaceous floras of Kamchatka.
- The early aquatic angiosperms from the North-Eastern Asia.
- Influence of volcanic activity on the vegetation dynamics in Kamchatka.
- Palaeogene flora of Spitzbergen.
- Cretaceous biota and K/T boundary of Heilongjiang river area.
