Abstract
Natural populations of 7 species of the genus Navicula (N. hanseatica, N. salinarum, N. frigidicola, N. slesvicensis, N. iserentantii, N. viridulacalсis and N. vaneei) are shown to demonstrate a significant variability of valve length and width, number of striae and lineolae in 10 μm, shape of valve and central area, that should be considered during systematic, taxonomic, floristic, and hydrobiological studies.
