Abstract

The new species Echinops tataricus Knjaz. fr om the Volga-Urals region is described (Fig. 1, 1). E. tataricus is similar to a hybrid of E. ruthenicus M. Bieb. s. str. and E. sphaerocephalus L.; it, however, has a number of features alien to these species, and has its own well defined range wh ere E. ruthenicus s. str. is completely missing and E. sphaerocephalus is rare. The distribution map of some Echinops species in the Urals and adjacent regions is given (Fig. 2, 1).
