(Book review) Prodrome of the vegetation of Ukraine. Kiev, 2019. 782 p.

The Prodrome is a monographic publication on syntaxonomy of the Ukrainian vegetation. The book contains a review of the development of syntaxonomic research in Ukraine using Braun-Blanquet approach, as well as peculiarities of phytosociological units of the higher rank syntaxa in comparison with those accepted in Central and Western Europa. Based on a critical analysis of numerous phytosociological data, we propose a classification scheme of the vegetation of Ukraine. It includes 1009 associations which belong to 252 alliances, 127 orders, and 75 classes. For each syntaxon we provide its characteristics (valid name, synonyms, diagnostic species, environmental data, distribution in Ukraine, conservation status, and references).
