Annotation

The 10th International Symposium “Steppes of Northern Eurasia” was held in Orenburg at the end of May 2024 and was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It also marked the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification. Almost 200 reports were heard, and even more articles were published in an electronic collection (posted on the website of the Steppe Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences). An important place in the materials of the symposium is devoted to the problems of desertification, land degradation and droughts in Russia and the countries of the Eurasian region, as well as the development and implementation of nature-like technologies, but in this work the authors analyze exclusively articles and speeches related to the scientific field of geobotany and emphasize the important place of geobotanists at the conference. Special attention was paid, among others, to the study of successional in general and regenerative dynamics of vegetation.
