- Identification of the principles and patterns of the organization of the spatial structure of the vegetation cover in the Russian Arctic.
- Development of typology and nomenclature of territorial units of the Arctic vegetation based on diagnostic syntaxa and their combinations for the purposes of geobotanic mapping.
- Phytosociological indication of habitats based on the ecological characteristics of species, syntaxa and their combinations.
- Development of a national typology of habitats in the Russian Arctic and their diagnostics based on the typology of territorial units of vegetation and modern European approaches (Nature 2000, CORINE, EUNIS).
- Geobotanic zoning of the Russian Arctic to the level of regions and sub-regions.
- interpretation of multispectral satellite images in field and office conditions based on GIS and Remote Sensing technologies.
- Preparation of large-scale geobotanic and thematic maps for the territories of the tundra zone.
- Development and testing of methods for remote monitoring of vegetation cover and habitats in the Russian Arctic.
