  • The role of relatively simple physical processes (such as self-assembly and phase separation) in exine development.
  • The ratio of genomic control and and physical phenomena in exine development.

Education and work experience:

1971 ― graduated from the Leningrad State University.
1981 ― Ph.D. thesis «Morphologo-anatomical reactions of Cucurbita pepo L. и Helianthus annuus L. seedlings on action of bio-active (transformative) substances» (03.00.05 – Botany).
1997 ― Dr.Sc. thesis «Ultrastructural background for sporoderm development in representatives of Magnoliidae» (03.00.05 – Botany).

1971 ― until now ― Komarov Botanical Institute RAS? Leading Researcher at present.
1989–2004 ― Stockholm university, Laboratory of Structural Botany. 10 periods of cooperation with palynologist Dr. John Rowley (as a visiting scientist) in studies of Nymphaeae pollen wall and tapetum development.
1998 ― Natural History Museum (London). A period of cooperation with Dr. Stephen Blackmore on exine substructure of a number of species.
2002 ― Barcelona University (Spain). A period of cooperation with Dr. Maria Suarez-Cervera on detection of allergenic proteins in Platanus exine by the method of electron immunocytochemistry.
