1973-77 – Laboratory of Anatomy, Komarov Botanical Institute, St. Petersburg. Ph.D. under Doctor Maria F. Danilova. Thesis title: «Structure of assimilating organs of the representatives of the family Chenopodiaceae in relation to the features of photosynthetic metabolism».

1971-1973 – Komarov Botanical Institute. For two years worked as a laboratory assistant for the Complex Soviet-Mongolian Biological Expedition, and in the summer 1971 and 1973, worked in Mongolia.
1977-1993 – Research Scientist at Laboratory of Plant Anatomy and Morphology, Komarov Botanical Institute.
