«Palaeobotany» is a peer-reviewed international journal publishing original papers on the morphology, anatomy and systematics of fossil plants as well as papers on palaeogeography and palaeoclimatology.

The journal is an ideological successor of the «Palaeobotanica» series, which was published as a part of the Acta Institutum Botanicum nomine V. L. Komarov Academiae Scientiarum URSS since 1956 to 1967.

«Palaeobotany» is indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).
